ADHD Articles and Guides
ADHD resources for adults and families: screening, evaluation, medication safety, and Lyte Psychiatry’s in-person and telehealth care requirements in Texas.
Start here: ADHD information and next steps
Questions about attention can involve symptoms, diagnosis, school or work demands, and treatment choices. Use these resources to prepare for a conversation with a qualified clinician and understand Lyte’s care requirements in Texas.
Start with an adult ADHD screening
Use a screening questionnaire to organize concerns for a clinical conversation. A screening result does not establish a diagnosis or qualify someone for medication.
Understand ADHD evaluation and treatment
Review Lyte’s evaluation options, QbCheck testing when helpful, and the in-person initial evaluation required by our practice when starting a stimulant.
Read the stimulant medication policy
Learn what to expect before prescribing, why previous prescriptions need review, and how clinical needs and prescribing authority affect treatment.
Plan prescription renewals and follow-up
Find renewal instructions, monitoring expectations, and the steps to take if your pharmacy cannot fill a prescription. Approval is not automatic.
What should I know before an ADHD evaluation?
ADHD involves persistent patterns of inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity that interfere with functioning. Assessment considers childhood history, symptoms in more than one setting, and other possible explanations. Bring previous evaluations, medication history, and examples of difficulties at home, school, or work.
Medication is one part of a possible treatment plan. Your clinician may discuss stimulant or nonstimulant medication, therapy, and practical supports. An evaluation does not guarantee a prescription. Students can also explore our college mental health resources.
For independent information, read the National Institute of Mental Health’s ADHD guide and the FDA’s prescription stimulant safety guidance.
