Contact the Student and House Staff Mental Health Service
BCM’s wellness page gives a phone number and student-help email address for requesting an intake with the Student and House Staff Mental Health Service. It describes the local service for BCM students, residents and fellows.
State your training role and whether you are requesting an initial appointment or returning after an earlier assessment. Ask what contact information and documents the office needs, where the visit will occur and how it will be confirmed. If your program or appointment status is unusual, have the service resolve eligibility before making plans based on a broad student-resource description.

Use the student instructions for AcademicLiveCare
The AcademicLiveCare section directs students to create an account using their school email address and the requested information. It also publishes a school access-code step for seeking care.
Open the university’s current instructions when registering so you can check the code and account route there. If a payment prompt or eligibility message is unexpected, ask the service to resolve it before completing a booking. Keep an account-registration message separate from an appointment confirmation. A trainee using the local service should ask whether the student virtual instructions also apply to that training role.

Clarify what follows the campus intake
The local service uses the intake to determine further service and may recommend outside resources when it cannot meet a need. Its page also addresses people who have already been assessed and referred elsewhere.
If you have a previous referral, tell the office about it rather than starting again as though no assessment occurred. Ask whether your next administrative task is arranging an outside intake, clarifying a referral or checking a different university resource. Continue to discuss existing care arrangements with the clinicians involved. This webpage cannot determine whether a service can take over your care or what an assessment will recommend.

Confirm which team is arranging the actual visit
BCM’s page describes both its own clinicians and a separate virtual service. The route you choose affects whom you contact about a request, an account problem or a later appointment.
Before putting a visit into your calendar, identify the service name, appointment format and responsible scheduling contact. Ask about any required records and the approved way to provide them. If your training takes you away from Houston, check your location with the service arranging the visit. For outside care, verify the receiving practice’s intake and financial requirements directly. University instructions do not establish a connection to Lyte or another independent practice.

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
Questions before you arrange care
Is BCM’s counseling intake the same as creating an AcademicLiveCare account?
No. The wellness page provides a local intake phone/email route and separate student account-registration instructions for AcademicLiveCare. Confirm the visit with the service you intend to use.

Can a resident assume the student virtual registration instructions apply?
The local-service section names students, residents and fellows, while the virtual section addresses students. Ask BCM to confirm the correct route for your role.
