Request an appointment after classes begin
Collin says students become eligible for counseling once their classes begin. Its counseling page links to the appointment request portal. Use that link rather than sending a full history to a general college contact address.
For a first request, have your enrollment information and usable contact method ready. If you have already worked with a Collin counselor, explain that when choosing the portal option or contacting the office. After submitting, look for the response that explains scheduling and any forms. Do not treat completion of a screening or an event registration as completion of the counseling request.

Check the campus office before planning the trip
The counseling page lists contacts in Frisco, McKinney, Plano and Wylie, with campus-specific office hours. These are useful routing details when your classes or work commitments change during the week.
Ask where your appointment will occur, whether that office is the right contact for follow-up and whom to notify if your timetable changes. A late afternoon class at one campus does not establish that a counselor at another campus is available afterward. Use the current official contact list instead of copying a room number from an old calendar invitation or another student’s schedule.

Handle access needs through the named office
Collin directs requests for accommodations in counseling sessions or seminars to ACCESS. Its Disability Services page provides the institution’s broader access process. A counseling appointment request and a request to remove an access barrier are separate administrative steps.
Explain the barrier and ask how to submit the relevant request securely. For example, ask what needs to be arranged before an appointment and whether the counselor must receive a separate confirmation. If your question concerns academic accommodations rather than access to a counseling visit, tell ACCESS that directly. Do not assume a counselor’s appointment note automatically completes the college’s accommodation process.

Request records with the destination in mind
The counseling office publishes a written email request process for students seeking copies of their health care records. Ask the office whether you need a personal copy, a release to another clinician or both; these requests can serve different purposes.
Before requesting a transfer, obtain the receiving office’s correct name and delivery instructions. Ask Collin what authorization is required and how records will be delivered. Keep a note of the request date and follow up on receipt with the receiving office. Having a counseling record sent does not itself establish a new appointment, so track scheduling separately.

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
Questions before you arrange care
Is Collin’s online screening an appointment or diagnosis?
No. Collin describes its screening as a tool for exploring concerns, not a diagnostic evaluation by itself. Use the appointment request portal if you want to speak with a counselor, even if you have already completed a screening.

What if my needs are beyond Collin’s counseling service?
Ask Counseling Services about community referral information. For any outside resource you consider, ask what the organization needs from you, then confirm its appointment, charges and records process directly with that organization.
