Explain your enrollment and existing therapy before changing arrangements
The EPCC Cares page describes appointments for students enrolled in the current semester, physically in Texas and not receiving therapy from an outside therapist.
Before asking to start, note the semester you are taking classes and whether another therapist is already working with you. If you are considering a transfer, ask EPCC Cares and your current clinician how to coordinate it. Do not cancel established care simply to make an application appear eligible. If your enrollment is changing, ask which date matters and whether another resource is appropriate during the gap.

Ask for the assessment process and a confirmed appointment
EPCC lists an initial assessment, short-term therapy and referrals among its services. Its public page describes both in-person and telehealth formats.
Use the official EPCC Cares page as the starting point for current service information. If you cannot find an appointment contact there, ask the college’s Contact Us directory to connect you with EPCC Cares. State that you need the counseling intake route, since an academic-advising appointment or peer-support account serves a different purpose. Before attending, confirm the clinician or office, visit format, location and any intake instructions.

Prepare a private space and a working camera
For telehealth, EPCC requires a private setting, a working internet connection, the camera to remain on and physical presence in Texas.
Test the camera and microphone on the device you plan to use. Arrange a place where roommates or coworkers cannot overhear, and avoid planning the session during a drive or a shift change. Tell the office before the visit if reliable video or private space is a barrier. Ask what alternative arrangement is available instead of assuming an audio-only call will satisfy the program’s requirements.

Clarify the next office when an outside referral is discussed
EPCC identifies medication management and longer-term care among needs that can lead to an outside referral.
Ask for the receiving service’s name and the exact next action. Explain whether the difficulty is booking, payment, travel or obtaining records so the referral conversation addresses that obstacle. A recommended provider still needs to confirm whether it can accept the request. Keep any existing clinician informed while the administrative handoff is being arranged.
- Who makes the first appointment request?
- What information should be shared, and through which approved method?
- What has the receiving office confirmed about intake and charges?
- Who should be contacted about current treatment while the referral is pending?

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
Questions before you arrange care
Can I leave my camera off for an EPCC Cares telehealth session?
The published telehealth requirements call for the camera to remain on. Contact the program before the appointment if you cannot meet that requirement and ask about another arrangement.

Does an EPCC Cares assessment automatically include medication management?
No. The page identifies medication management as a reason for an outside referral. Ask the team which service should receive that request and how its intake works.
