Call the Counseling Center for a first or return visit
Currently enrolled MSU Texas students can request short-term campus counseling. Call 940-397-4618 or follow the appointment page’s in-person instructions for the Counseling Center in the Student Wellness Center.
Tell the office if this is your first appointment or if you are returning to an existing counselor. If your needs extend beyond short-term counseling, ask the team to discuss an appropriate outside-care route. Check the cancellation instructions when booking so you know how to release an appointment you cannot attend.

Ask for BetterMynd access; distinguish TimelyCare services
MSU’s counseling appointment page tells students seeking BetterMynd virtual counseling to call the Counseling Center for platform credits. That step is different from opening the TimelyCare link on the counseling homepage.
The university lists TimelyCare emotional support, health coaching, basic-needs resources, and general medical visits. Ask which platform and service match your request. Do not assume that access to a general medical visit or emotional-support conversation includes specialist psychiatric medication management.

Make the medication-care question explicit
If you need a psychiatric assessment or continuation of medication treatment, tell your current prescriber what is changing and ask MSU Health Services about the appropriate medical or referral route. The university Health Services page provides its contact details and links to TimelyCare and local in-person medical options.
When contacting a receiving practice, ask whether it provides the specific follow-up you need and what records it requires. A university listing or virtual-care login does not confirm that a particular clinician has accepted your care.

Use the center’s phone and records-release process
MSU’s counseling policy recommends telephone contact instead of email because of email privacy limitations. Use the office’s instructions to arrange a conversation rather than sending a detailed treatment history in an initial email.
For a counseling-records handoff, use the Authorization to Release/Exchange Information form linked from the university’s records page and return it to the Counseling Center. Ask which recipient and records to identify on the form.

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Confirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.

Does MSU’s TimelyCare list confirm psychiatric prescribing?
The university lists emotional support and general medical services, but that list does not establish specialist psychiatric medication care. Ask Health Services about the route for your specific need.

Should I email my full treatment history to arrange a campus appointment?
MSU recommends telephone contact with the Counseling Center because of email privacy concerns. Ask the office how to submit records through its designated process.
