Use the current Nelson route when you encounter the former name
The university’s official history records its 2024 change from Southwestern Assemblies of God University to Nelson University. The current counseling page offers phone, office and client-portal scheduling routes.
If an older bookmark or message uses SAGU, return to the current Nelson counseling page before choosing a link. Check whether you are starting a new request or resuming an existing one. Tell the center if you previously used the service under the former name, then ask how to locate the appropriate account. Avoid creating another account simply because the institution’s branding has changed.

Complete the new-client intake and consent steps
Nelson asks new clients to complete intake and consent before a counseling appointment. Its registration link also enables portal scheduling.
Begin with the new-client link on the official page and follow the instructions displayed there. Set aside time to read the consent information and ask the center about anything unclear. Keep any completion notice, then check whether you still need to choose a visit or wait for further instructions. Registration, paperwork and scheduling are separate actions; confirm which ones are finished rather than assuming the first completed screen settles all three.
Ask for help when a returning account does not open
The page directs clients returning from recent semesters to their existing portal and tells them to contact the center if access causes problems.
Try the university’s current returning-client link and describe the problem to staff if it fails. Ask whether the account needs assistance or whether updated intake is required. Avoid sending a password or a full copy of your counseling information in an account-help message. Once access works, verify the visit you want to arrange; restoring an account does not by itself confirm a new appointment.
Keep campus and TimelyCare requests clearly identified
The counseling office is listed on the first floor of Bridges Hall. The page also links TimelyCare as a separate telehealth and telecounseling option.
Check which service you are contacting and which one sent the appointment confirmation. For a campus visit, confirm the room and arrival instructions with the center. For a virtual request, use the university’s current link and ask that service about its setup and appointment requirements. If you discuss both routes, record their statuses separately so changing one request does not leave another booking unresolved.
Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Confirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
Questions before you arrange care
Should I create a new account if my returning portal access fails?
Contact the center first and ask it to identify the appropriate next step. An access problem may need account assistance; avoid creating a duplicate request before staff clarify the process.
Does completing intake mean my visit is booked?
Check for appointment details after the paperwork step. If you only have a submission or registration notice, ask what remains before treating the visit as confirmed.
