Begin therapy with a TWU CAPS intake
For an individual, couples, or group counseling intake, call TWU Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at 940-898-3801. Tell the office which campus you attend and whether you are asking about an in-person or telehealth visit; in-person schedules differ by campus.
CAPS provides short-term therapy and consultation. If you need longer-term or more intensive support, discuss that at intake so the team can help with an appropriate referral.
Ask Student Health about a mental health medical visit
TWU Student Health lists mental health care, prescriptions and refills, and specialist referrals within its services. Call 940-898-3826 and explain that you are asking about a mental health visit or continuing medication care. The clinician must determine what the clinic can provide for your situation.
The Denton appointment page describes portal booking for next-day acute illness visits. Do not assume that appointment type is the correct slot for a mental health assessment. Mental health visits also have a different fee schedule from a routine medical visit; ask the office about the applicable charges.

Use the medical route for your campus
TWU’s appointment page gives Denton and Dallas students a central scheduling number and patient-portal route. For Houston, it identifies UT Health Services as a TWU student health provider and says students need their TWU student ID.
Before traveling to a clinic, confirm the location, appointment type, and whether that team handles the mental health service you need. A general medical-service arrangement does not establish that every campus offers the same psychiatric care.

Check access when enrollment or your campus changes
TWU’s online Student Health system is available to students currently enrolled in classes. If you cannot access the portal after registering, use the Student Health contact instructions for help rather than repeatedly selecting an unrelated appointment.
When changing campuses or leaving for a semester break, ask both the counseling office and any medical prescriber about continuing care. Confirm which office will handle the next appointment before treating a referral as a completed transfer.

Arrange records for an outside clinician
TWU Student Health’s privacy page provides a Medical Records Release Request form. Ask the receiving clinician what information is needed, then follow the records office’s instructions for the request and destination.
If your previous care was with CAPS rather than Student Health, contact CAPS about its own records process. Naming the office that actually treated you helps avoid requesting a medical chart when you need counseling information.

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
Questions before you arrange care
Does TWU CAPS serve only the Denton campus?
No. TWU describes CAPS services for enrolled students at Denton, Dallas, and Houston. Ask which appointment format and campus schedule apply to you.
Should I select an acute-illness portal appointment for medication care?
Call Student Health to identify the appropriate visit. Its Denton portal instructions describe acute-illness booking, while mental health appointments have different visit and fee arrangements.

Does a TWU medical visit guarantee that my prescription will be continued?
No. Student Health describes services and limits, but an individual clinician must assess whether your treatment can be managed there or needs a specialist referral.
