UTA ties eligibility for campus CAPS counseling and psychiatry to current enrollment and the Medical Services Fee. Check MyMav or ask Health Services to confirm whether that fee is included in your enrollment.
UTA lists online-only students as eligible for TimelyCare. Those students can purchase eligibility for campus CAPS services through the university’s Medical Services Fee process. Campus eligibility does not by itself establish an outside clinician’s insurance coverage or charges.

Arrange counseling and complete the portal paperwork
Call 817-272-3671 to arrange a CAPS counseling visit or consultation. UTA uses the Health Services Web Portal for appointment information, consent forms, paperwork, and secure messages.
Follow the office’s instructions for completing forms before the visit. At the appointment, discuss what you want help with and whether you need campus counseling, another campus resource, or community care. UTA says referrals may be recommended when the treatment needed is beyond CAPS services.

Distinguish campus psychiatry from a TimelyCare referral
UTA Health Services provides psychiatric assessment and treatment, including medication care. Its current scheduling instructions direct students to psychiatry@uta.edu. Use that route to ask about an initial psychiatric appointment rather than assuming a counseling booking also schedules medication care.
UTA’s TimelyCare psychiatry appointments require a referral. Its on-demand emotional support and scheduled counseling are separate services. Ask the campus or TimelyCare team how the psychiatry referral works before relying on that program for medication follow-up.

Check the service and your location before a break
UTA says students must be physically in Texas to receive campus CAPS services. Its TimelyCare page describes access for current students across the United States, including breaks, and explains how to sign in with a UTA email address.
These are different programs. Before traveling, tell the team which service you need and where you will be. Confirm the applicable appointment, referral, and location requirements with that program; access to emotional support does not mean a psychiatry appointment is already arranged.
Plan the information handoff if you use community care
If CAPS recommends an outside clinician, ask what the receiving office needs and how to request the relevant records. UTA’s confidentiality page links to its records-request process. It also explains that counseling records are separate from academic files and describes confidentiality exceptions.
For a virtual visit, arrange a private place where others cannot overhear. Use the university’s secure portal for its forms and messages, and follow the receiving provider’s instructions for transferring health information.

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
