Book One-at-a-Time counseling when starting or returning
UT Tyler's appointment instructions direct new students, and those who have not seen a center counselor in the past six months, to a One-at-a-Time appointment. Students can arrange this online, by telephone or through the office in University Center 3170.
Bring one concern you want to work through and one practical question about what follows. The center describes a collaborative stepped-care approach: the next recommendation may involve another appointment, a group, coaching or a different service. Ask which option has been recommended for you and who will arrange it. A first appointment does not automatically create a recurring schedule.

Complete the right paperwork and protect your appointment time
The appointment page provides new-client forms for students who did not schedule online and describes a brief assessment before each visit. It also distinguishes ongoing appointments arranged by a counselor from initial appointments booked through the center.
Check the confirmation before you attend so that the format, location and required forms are clear. If your class schedule changes, use the center's published cancellation or rescheduling route. Ask for confirmation of the new time. Removing a personal calendar reminder does not cancel a clinic appointment.

Request the psychiatry referral rather than choosing the wrong app service
UT Tyler lists several TimelyCare services, including scheduled counseling, health coaching and on-demand support. Its appointment page says psychiatry requires a Student Counseling Center referral; the center's main page describes psychiatry for students in counseling.
Ask the center how to begin that referral and how you will know it has been received. Tell the team if you already have a prescriber so they can explain the coordination process. Before relying on a virtual appointment while away from Tyler, confirm that the requested service can see you at your planned location. An app login or general support conversation is not proof of a prescribing appointment.

Check medical-clinic scheduling and charges separately
The University Health Clinic has its own appointment contact and is located on Patriot Drive. Its medical-cost page directs patients to contact the clinic for current pricing. The clinic also publishes different summer and holiday hours.
Describe the type of visit before asking about cost, so the answer concerns the actual service you need. Ask whether there may be additional charges and which insurance information to bring. A student-counseling appointment or TimelyCare account does not settle the billing arrangements for a separate medical visit.

Ask how information will move between services
UT Tyler's counseling confidentiality page explains its permission requirements, exceptions and separation from academic records. Review that policy with the counselor if you want another clinician, family member or university office involved.
Name the person you want the team to communicate with, the purpose and the information needed. Ask whether a release is required and how to submit it securely. When another practice is involved, check both that records were sent and that the intended office received them; those are two different completion points.

Considering therapy or medication management at Lyte
Lyte provides therapy, psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Ask which service and clinician fit your needs. A medication evaluation does not guarantee a prescription or continuation of a particular medication.
Lyte Psychiatry offers telehealth visits to patients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the visit. In-person appointments take place at Lyte’s Pantego clinic; this campus guide does not describe a Lyte office at the institution.
Coverage and costs depend on your specific plan, clinician, visit type and deductible. Confirm network status and expected costs before booking. A student plan, parent’s plan or campus referral does not by itself establish Lyte coverage.
Request a Lyte appointmentConfirm appointment format, availability and costs before booking. For questions, call 469-733-0848. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Central Time. Weekend appointments are limited and offered case by case.
Send medical records and insurance details only through the practice’s approved secure intake process.
