He is board-certified in Adult Psychiatry and in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, trained at Johns Hopkins, stayed on faculty there, and moved to Texas in 2012. Do I have to drive to Pantego at all?
Only if you are starting a stimulant for ADHD, and only for the first evaluation. Everything else, including therapy, non-stimulant ADHD treatment, depression, anxiety, and sleep, starts and continues by video. If you do make the one 45-mile trip down from Frisco, AT&T Stadium and Six Flags are a few miles from the clinic.
How fast can a Frisco teenager get an appointment?
Usually within 1–2 business days, the same as adults. Dr. Akintola is board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry, so a Frisco ISD student does not need a referral to a separate children's specialist. A video visit means a student at Reedy, Wakeland, Lone Star, or any other Frisco ISD campus does not lose a half day to a drive.

Can Frisco ISD help my child, or do we need a psychiatrist?
Both. Frisco ISD counselors and its student support services can adjust schedules, arrange a 504 plan, and refer out. They cannot diagnose or prescribe. If your child needs an evaluation, medication, or a diagnosis letter for a 504 or IEP meeting, that is our job, and we write those letters on request. Bring the school's most recent report card, any counselor notes, and teacher comments to the first visit.
I work for a Frisco company on a security clearance. Will seeing a psychiatrist hurt it?
Seeking mental health care does not by itself automatically disqualify you from a security clearance. Reporting requirements depend on your circumstances and the current questionnaire; consult your security officer when needed.
