Ask a Psychiatrist
How often do I see the psychiatrist after starting medication?
Two to four weeks after starting or changing anything, then every one to three months once you're stable. Early visits exist to catch side effects and tune the dose while it matters; stable maintenance doesn't need monthly check-ins. Controlled medications legally require closer contact.

The red flag is the opposite pattern: a script and a "see you in six months" with no way to reach anyone in between. Follow-up is the treatment. The prescription is just where it starts.
